The President of Serbia has announced his upcoming resignation

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that he will resign in the coming weeks.

Extraordinary presidential and parliamentary elections will be announced. According to the current Constitution of Serbia, this is Vučić's last presidential term.

"This is the last time I am speaking in front of such a large number of people as the president. I have faithfully served my country for 14 years, holding various positions," he said at a pro-government rally in Belgrade.

It should be noted that Aleksandar Vucic was first elected president of Serbia in 2017. Then he was re-elected for a second term, which ends in 2027.

Before being elected president, Vučić held the post of Prime Minister of Serbia in 2014-2017.
