Within the framework of the criminal proceedings being investigated by the investigative department of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of the investigative department of the city of Yerevan of the investigative committee of the RA, another case of illegal trafficking of particularly large amounts of narcotics for the purpose of sale was revealed.
On November 24, 2024, the driver and the passenger of the said vehicle were taken to the Nubarashen department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Police by the patrol officers due to the fact that packages with adhesive tape were noticed next to the VAZ 21214 car parked on Arin-Berd Street of the Erebuni administrative district, on suspicion of possession and sale of illegal drugs.
The latter informed the law enforcement officers about the presence of drugs in the car they were driving.
Regarding the case, criminal proceedings were initiated in the investigation department of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of the Yerevan City Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee under the 1st and 2nd clauses of Article 393, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code.
The identity of the mentioned persons transferred to the police station was determined by the necessary measures. The latter were arrested and interrogated based on reasonable suspicion.
During the preliminary investigation, an inspection of the incident site was carried out, during which a total of 12 packages were found thrown on the ground, and a total of 25 small packages wrapped with adhesive tapes were found during the search of the VAZ 21214 car.
In order to find out the weight and composition of the found masses, a complex forensic chemical and forensic botanical examination was appointed. According to the expert's conclusion, the sample taken from the packages is "Mephedrone" drug.
A digital search was carried out on the mobile phone found during the personal search of the arrested persons, as a result of which it was found that 11 photos of locations were taken with the mobile phone in different parts of Arin-Bird Street, with coordinates written on them.
On the basis of the obtained sufficient facts, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against the above-mentioned persons, according to the features of Article 44-393, Part 3, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code, and they were charged.
Motions were submitted to the court to apply detention as a preventive measure against them, which were granted. The investigation is ongoing and measures are being taken to find out the presence of other persons in the drug trafficking chain, as well as the source of the drug.
The relevant police department has been instructed.
