Everyone knows that pre-trial detention without a final court verdict is used as a punishment in our country, especially for Nikol Pashinyan's political opponents, his critics, oppositionists. However, it turns out that arresting people and sending them to prison are often not enough, and the conditions of detention are different for different people.
First, the cells are different. As a rule, political prisoners are kept in bad cells, where there are many people, sometimes serious criminals. If ordinary criminals are allowed to have a refrigerator, TV, air conditioner, and a comfortable bed in their cell, it is often forbidden for political prisoners. For example, Samvel Karapetyan was forbidden to hand over any cooling device in the summer, and even a blanket in the winter, when the temperature in the cell was close to zero, and the detention center was not heated until December 10. In the case of Gagik Tsarukyan, during the previous detention, they were forced to sleep on a bed twice smaller than his size, which was simply impossible.
We think it is the same now. As a rule, the visits of all political prisoners are prohibited by the decision of the investigator or judge (in the case of Aregnaz Manukyan, even with a minor child), the visits of deputies are also closed, and only the lawyer can visit, so that the person is psychologically depressed as much as possible. These additional punishments are imposed from above. The administration of the detention center and the investigators regularly inform the "victim" that this is done "on the personal instruction of the first person".
