The digital transformation of NATO, the use of artificial intelligence in defense and the improvement of cyber security capabilities will be the main topics at the summit of the North Atlantic Alliance to be held in Ankara on July 7-8, according to Türkiye newspaper, which noted that China's technological development will be given special attention in this context.
As the newspaper notes, China is defined in NATO's strategic documents as a technological and strategic competitor, although it is not directly considered a military opponent. However, its technological growth is under close scrutiny by most of the bloc's countries. In this context, writes Türkiye, NATO is developing joint projects to protect critical communication systems, strengthen data security and reduce dependence on imported strategic technologies.
In this regard, the NATO leaders' summit in Ankara is supposed to be one of the main events defining the alliance's digital transformation. Discussions are expected to include the development of defense systems based on artificial intelligence, cyber security and technological cooperation in the defense industry within NATO.
Discussions will also focus on increasing the resilience of digital infrastructures in the alliance countries and improving joint capabilities against new generation threats, the publication notes.
