"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:
"For a year now, the daily newspaper "Zhoghovurd" has been consistently trying to understand the stage of the criminal proceedings related to Arpi Davoyan, deputy of the "Civil Agreement" faction of the National Assembly, which has been under investigation since 2023. However, the received official answers do not clarify the situation, but raise more questions. To remind, "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper wrote that in 2018, a case involving Arpi Davoyan was investigated in the investigative department of the RA SRC. According to preliminary information, he founded LLCs, made some imports, and then cheated the state. After April 2018, he was even interrogated at the SRC investigation.
In response to the last inquiry of the "Zhoghovurd" daily, the RA General Prosecutor's Office informed that an answer to a similar inquiry had already been given before. "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper studied all the official letters it received and found out that it refers to the same answer given almost a year ago, the content of which was literally as follows: "Citizen Arpi Davoyan was interrogated as a witness and did not have any other legal status within the framework of the criminal proceedings being investigated in the Main Department of Economic Crimes and Smuggling of the RA Investigative Committee. The criminal investigation continues."
This means that no new information regarding the progress of the case has been submitted for an entire year, and virtually the same wording continues to be used today.
So far, no visible progress has been presented to the public. What did Arpi Davoyan do in the end, how did he deceive the state, did he deceive or not? There are no new defendants in the case, no new trial statuses, and no final decision. Only the same wording: "the investigation is ongoing".
And in this regard, it is remarkable to compare the public facts with the criminal proceedings. In particular, in recent months, during the sessions of the National Assembly, MP Arpi Davoyan has often publicly praised RA Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan. At the same time, he has warm relations with Andranik Simonyan, director of the RA National Security Service. Therefore, it is not difficult to guess why the proceedings do not move from 2023 onwards. In the end, we are not talking about an ordinary citizen, but a deputy of the ruling faction, who is actually sponsored by the security forces."
