Tehran is ready to hold a dialogue with Washington, but if necessary, the Islamic Republic will defend itself and give a strong response. This was announced by the permanent representation of Iran at the UN in connection with the statement of the US President Donald Trump about the threat of a "huge fleet" approaching Iran and carrying out a military operation.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi also said that Tehran is entering the third stage of the conflict with the USA and Israel. He noted that the first was the 12-day war of June 2025, and the second was the riots organized by Washington in Iran in January 2026.

The Iranian diplomat noted that Tehran never wanted war and does not want it now, but considers "its defense" necessary and will not stop strengthening it, even if progress is made in the diplomatic arena.
