Slovakia's government has decided not to join US President Donald Trump's "Peace Council" initiative aimed at overseeing the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, according to documents approved by Slovakia.
"Under the circumstances, the Slovak government has decided not to join the Peace Council for the time being," the document, which the Slovak government approved on January 28, states.
On January 27, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fizo, announced that the country should reject the invitation to join the "Peace Council". He noted that Slovakia will remain a pro-peace country, but cannot join an initiative that requires such financial investments.
