Fizo called the EU's refusal of Russian gas energy suicide

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fizo, stated that the refusal of Russian gas by the European Union is energy suicide.

According to the statement of the EU Council published on Monday, the final approval was given to ban the import of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) from January 1, 2027, and the import of Russian pipeline gas from September 30, 2027.

"You know my opinion. this is the end of the European Union's energy suicide. We will all pay for this stupid ideological decision. You know that the first step, which caused significant damage to us, was the suspension of the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Slovakia.

That decision was made by the president of Ukraine, and it costs us up to 500 million euros per year. These are losses from gas transit fees, which we used to transport to Europe through our pipelines," Fizo said during a press conference, which was broadcast by Slovak TV channel TA3 on Tuesday.
