"According to the information received by "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper, a few days before the New Year, the Pre-Investigative Body returned the items seized from the apartments of the priests of Aragatsotn Diocese, except for personal phones and seized money.
"Zhoghovurd" daily reported that for about 1 month the lawyers were warning that during the searches carried out on October 15, phones, children's tablets and other personal belongings were seized not only from the clergy, but also from their family members. The searches took place in the houses of a number of clergymen of the Aragatsotn diocese and civil servants of the Armenian Apostolic Church. After the incident, the lawyers noted that among the seized items there were personal and family materials, which have nothing to do with the criminal case.
And some of the things seized months ago have been returned to the clergy's relatives, but the phones and money have not been returned yet.
Let's remind that on December 29, 2025, the pre-investigation body announced the end of the preliminary investigation in the criminal proceedings against the leader of the Aragatsotn Diocese.
During the preliminary investigation, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against Mkrtich Bishop Proshyan, the son of the Catholicos' sister, under Article 210, Part 3, Item 2 of the Criminal Code, for obstructing the exercise of the right to participate in an election meeting or referendum, and Article 236, Part 3, for obstructing or coercing participation in the gatherings. He is under arrest. Along with the latter, 2 other persons are accused: the accountant of the diocese and the diplomat of the diocese of Aragatsotn.
