During the last five years, the armed forces of Azerbaijan have significantly strengthened their strength. As APA reports, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this in his message.
"Equipped with new weapons and equipment, our army is now able to perform any mission. Through locally produced weapons and equipment, as well as supplementing the capabilities of our army with weapons and equipment purchased from abroad, we have been able to significantly increase our military strength.
The combat capability of our armed forces has increased significantly, the number of special forces has increased several times, and the recently created commando forces include thousands of soldiers and officers. We are not preparing for a new war. For us, wars are in the past. However, in the modern world, every country should first of all think seriously about its own security.
Norms of international law no longer work in today's world. many countries have adopted the principle "who is stronger is right". A large-scale armament process is underway all over the world. In such a situation, we should be ready at any moment to adequately protect our territorial integrity, sovereignty and our choice," he said.
Aliyev also referred to Armenia, noting: "After our victory in the war, we worked tirelessly to strengthen and establish it internationally and politically. And we achieved it. The whole world recognizes our victory and clearly sees our truthfulness. The Minsk Group, which has the authority to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, was sent to the history archive.
Thus, the Karabakh conflict was completely removed from the international agenda. As a victorious country, we extended a hand of peace to defeated Armenia, which is also a manifestation of our far-sighted policy. We do not intend to be at war forever. We do not want the lands of other countries.
By using force to restore our territorial integrity, we secured our sovereign rights within the framework of the UN Charter based on UN Security Council resolutions. Just five years after the Patriotic War, the signing of the peace treaty with Armenia once again shows the greatness of our people and the wisdom of our policy.
In fact, we have been living in peace for only about five years. Having shed blood on the battlefield and suffered losses, we achieved a glorious victory and consolidated it in the most prestigious place in the world, the White House of America, with the participation of the President of the United States.
Thus, the issue of restoring the country's territorial integrity and recognition by the whole world, which was our main goal for 30 years, was resolved."
