The President of Iran called to listen to the demands of the protesters

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded to the protests against the rapid devaluation of the Iranian rial in the country, announcing the need to listen to the demands of the population.

"Fars" news agency reported on Monday that protests began in the capital of Iran against the background of the devaluation of the local currency, the Iranian rial. The protests are focused on sharp exchange rate fluctuations and their impact on wholesale and retail prices.

Videos of protests in other cities have also surfaced on social media. Against this background, the head of Iran's central bank, Mohammad Farzin, has resigned, and Abdolnaser Hemmati will be appointed in his place.

"I instructed the Minister of Internal Affairs (Iskandar Momeni) to listen to the legitimate demands of the protesters through dialogue, so that the government can make all efforts to solve the problems," the president wrote on the X-social network.

Pezeshkyan also noted that the authorities are currently working on reforming the banking and financial system and maintaining the purchasing power of the population.
