"Hraparak" newspaper writes:
"According to the information received from our sources of the RA government, some time ago the representative of Turkey, Serdar Kilic, under the pressure of the USA, conveyed their new proposals to Nikol Pashinyan. That is, from January 1, 2026, the border between Armenia and Turkey will be open for diplomatic passport holders, as well as citizens of third countries, but Turkey is not ready to open the borders for cargo. They decided to take an intermediate half-step: from now on, the final destination of cargo coming from Turkey to Armenia through the territory of Georgia will be indicated as Armenia, not Georgia, as it was before.
It was also reported that Turkey has developed a protocol on the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, but Ankara demands that Pashinyan himself go to Turkey to sign that document.
Although, as a rule, such documents are signed at the level of foreign affairs ministers, not heads of state, the Turks have decided to humiliate the RA authorities one more time by lowering the status of the RA Prime Minister. Kilic presented another demand related to the railway.
They demanded that Armenia urgently start construction of the railway in the sections from Yeraskh to the Azerbaijani border and from Akhurik to the Turkish border.
But since there are no such financial resources in the Armenian budget, Pashinyan was suggested to put the matter on the Russian side, taking advantage of the concession contract of the South Caucasian railway, which is valid until 2038.
Our source says that Pashinyan's main reason for going to Russia a few days ago was that Russia would take over the construction of the railway, which he also talked about during the last government briefing.
Our source says that Pashinyan managed to convince Putin that these sections will be built at the expense of Russia. Naturally, Russia also put forward its counterclaims and perhaps received Pashinyan's agreement.
