The Knesset blocked the activities of the UN agency in Israel

Israel's parliament has adopted a law that blocks the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA).

This is reported by Euronews. According to the document, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees will be prohibited from carrying out "any activity" or providing any service on the territory of Israel. Israeli authorities are prohibited from having any contact with UNRWA.

In Israel, it is announced that hundreds of UNRWA employees have ties to the militants of the Palestinian group Hamas, and that military equipment of Hamas has been found near or under the facilities of the agency. In addition, according to Israel, the educational institutions under the auspices of the organization incite hatred towards Israel and glorify terrorism. UNRWA stated that Israel's decision will lead to the collapse of the humanitarian aid process.

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stated that the law "will make UNRWA's vital operations in Gaza de facto impossible and will seriously complicate the provision of services in the West Bank." And the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said in this regard, that passage of the law by the Israeli Knesset would have devastating consequences for millions of Palestinians.
