It turned out that a famous drink suppresses "inflammatory genes"

Roybos tea extracts strengthen the function of the intestinal barrier and reduces the activity of inflammatory genes. This conclusion was reached by Keip Peninsula University (South Africa) scientists. The results of the study were published in the phytomedicine Plus (phytoplus).

Roybos (also known as Roybos) is done by Aspalathus Linearis, dried and crushed leaves and brushed leaves and branches. The drink does not contain caffeine, which makes it a popular tea and coffee alternative for those stimulus contraindicated.

Scientists have analyzed the influence of the fermented and unknown Roybos on intestinal epithelia cells. The results showed that both types of tea reduce the activity of inflammatory molecules (IL-8, IL-6, IL-1B and CCL20).

Fermented Roybos was more effective in oppressing the inflammatory response, while the unknown Roybos was more effective in strengthening intermediate connections that composed the protective barrier of the intestinal mucous membrane.

Researchers explain this effect with differences in polyphenols. Each type of Roybos contains a unique collection of these bioactive vegetable compounds.

The authors note that their results can be the basis for further research on the prevention and treatment of inflammatory intestinal diseases, as well as further research on the development of new functional products based on Roybos.
