"New Yorker" reports that the company "Stardust" has decided to reduce the brightness of the sun in order to lower the temperature of the Earth.
The company is located in Israel and registered in Delaware. The authors of this ambitious idea want to apply the principle of volcanic eruptions, when millions of tons of sulfur dioxide reflect sunlight back into space. This will reduce the temperature of the planet's surface.
The company described the scheme as "sunlight reflection technology" or geoengineering. According to the magazine, this idea has been around for decades, but the company has taken a big but "scary step". They plan to spray the innovative particles above the clouds, where they will form a "mirror" to reduce the heat of the sun.
At the same time, scientists refused to disclose the composition of reflective particles, stressing that they are completely safe for people and ecosystems. According to the co-founder of the company, Yanai Yedvab, they do not plan to implement the developed technologies by themselves, because it will require huge costs and resources.
