The American plan for the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine envisages reducing the number of the armed forces of Ukraine to 40% of the current level, reports the British magazine The Economist, referring to its sources.
Earlier, Oliver Carroll, a correspondent of the publication, wrote in X that it was about reducing the size of the Ukrainian army by 2.5 times.
The Economist also confirmed the Daily Telegraph's report that the White House presented its proposals now in light of a corruption scandal in Ukraine that has weakened Volodymyr Zelensky's position.
The magazine noted that it is still unclear whether this program is the result of the general work of the US President Donald Trump's administration or is a personal initiative of his special envoy Steven Witkoff.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told TASS on Wednesday that Russia has not received any information from the United States through official channels regarding any "agreement" reported in the media regarding Ukraine.
