Mishustin arrived in Pakistan for a meeting of the heads of government of the SCO countries

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

At the airport, Mishustin was met by the Minister of Defense, Defense Production and Aviation of Pakistan Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan for European Affairs Shafqat Ali Khan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to the Russian Federation Muhammad Khalid Jamali.

The head of the Russian government will work in Islamabad on October 15-16. As part of the trip, Mishustin will hold a number of meetings on October 16, including trilateral negotiations with the Prime Minister of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang and the Prime Minister of Mongolia Luvsannamsrain Oyuun-Erdene. In addition, the head of the Russian government is scheduled to have separate conversations with his Chinese and Mongolian counterparts, and Mishustin is also expected to meet with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

On the same day, the Russian Prime Minister will take part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The Prime Ministers of Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the First Vice President of Iran and the High Representative of India are also expected to attend. Participants will consider priority tasks to deepen SCO trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

In particular, politicians will discuss the development of trade and economic cooperation in the context of a comprehensive modernization of the SCO's activities in accordance with new geopolitical realities. Coordinated approaches to solving SCO problems in the global economy will be recorded in the final Joint Communiqué.

During the meeting, the heads of government will approve the budget, staffing schedules for the secretariat and executive committee of the SCO RATS, updated taking into account the admission of Belarus, and a protocol on amending the agreement on the procedure for forming and executing the SCO budget dated December 1, 2017.
