The modernization of the fifth generation F-35 fighter, which was originally intended to be completed in April 202, may not even take place in 2025. This was reported by the Defense One Portal, citing the plane processing corporation, Lockheed Martin.
We are talking about the modification of TR-3, which includes the aircraft software, as well as the update of various equipment. According to the company's financial director Jay Malaw, specialists still need to work "completely to increase the stability of the system."
According to him, the company expects to achieve some success in 2025, but from the point of view of financial modeling, it is preparing for the end of the project in 2026.
Earlier, the corporation announced a total of 110 F-35 fighter to the United States and its allies until 2024, "overcoming significant delays in the program over the past few years."
