There are new demonstrations in Batumi

A demonstration demanding the release of the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, is taking place in Batumi. NewsGeorgia writes about this. The rally was organized by the Adjara structure of the National Movement. Hundreds of supporters of the political figure symbolically gathered at the seaport.

A part of the inauguration events took place there when Saakashvili first assumed the post of president exactly 21 years ago. The topic of Saakashvili's release has long been out of the political agenda. The former president himself recently called it "paradoxical" that many participants in the current protests "justify" his imprisonment. Supporters of the politician believe that public opinion in Georgia was influenced by "Russian propaganda, on which the Kremlin has spent tens of millions of dollars over many years."

"Saakashvili is the founder and architect of the new state of Georgia. Exactly 21 years ago, Saakashvili raised the EU flag in front of the parliament and said the historic words. Georgia is a part of the European family, and we Georgians will definitely become full members of this family," said Kakha Mikeladze.
