Last year, the 2024-2026 strategy for the new round of reforms in the Police sector was adopted.
On January 15, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a decision by which the Police Reforms Coordinating Council was created. The individual composition of the board was approved.
The main purpose of the council is to coordinate the priorities defined by the strategy and the measures resulting from them.
Emphasizing the involvement of civil society in the processes of reforms of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it is planned to include representatives of 4 non-governmental organizations in the coordinating council.
The main directions outlined in the strategy of the police reform are: establishing the Ministry of Internal Affairs, improving the quality of services, strengthening the institutional connection between the Ministry and the police, finalizing the police management scheme and function, introducing a new institutional approach to human resource management in the police, etc.
