In that sense, it is worth paying attention to the situation in Lebanon, where a new president was elected after a two-year crisis, and it seems that certain transformations are also taking place. The first country that the newly elected president of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, will visit will be Saudi Arabia.
He will visit Riyadh at the invitation of Prince Ben Salman. This is a significant step, which perhaps indicates that the influence of Saudi Arabia will increase in Lebanon.
This circumstance can be in a remarkable "contrast" in the context of Turkey's role in Syria, taking into account the so-called competitive relationship between Turkey and Saudi Arabia, or simply a somewhat strained relationship.
Let's not rush to draw far-reaching conclusions, but the fact that French President Emmanuel Macron, who has significant interests in Lebanon, visited Saudi Arabia last year in mid-November is also worthy of attention here.
Among other things, Macron may have considered in Saudi Arabia the possibility of maintaining influence in Lebanon through cooperation with Riyadh, given that the Israeli strikes on Hezbollah have somewhat reduced the degree of Iranian influence, although certainly not completely neutralized it.
By the way, in the context of these events, I raise the question again, why the agreement on the establishment of Armenian-Saudi diplomatic relations, which was signed at the level of the ambassadors of the two countries in the Emirates at the end of 2023, was not substantially developed during 2024."
