Japanese and American companies filed suit against Biden

Japanese steel company Nippon Steel and US Steel Corporation filed lawsuits against US President Joe Biden and his administration to block the deal between them.

This is reported by TASS.

The lawsuits were filed in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the District Court of Pennsylvania.

The companies believe that the US president's decision to block the purchase of Japan's Nippon Steel was political interference. It is said that this is the first such lawsuit against the US president by a large Japanese corporation.

Biden blocked the deal on January 3.

The US leader's statement emphasized that steel production is the "backbone of the nation" and that US Steel will remain a "proud American company" run by American workers.

US President David Burritt said blocking the deal was a disgrace and a sign of corruption.
