"Portal to the world of the dead" discovered in Mexico

Archaeologists of the National Institute of Anthropology discovered a "portal to the world of the dead" in Mexico, RIA Novosti reports.

Experts drew attention to the results of the study of the soil and foundation under the San Pablo Apostol Catholic Church.
According to archaeologists, the depth of voids was 30 meters. The discovery was made in the ancient city of Mithla in the south of the country.

According to archaeologists, Sapotec Indians lived here.

They were sacrificing people.
Archaeologists also found remains of children here. It is believed that the people living in Mithla worshiped the Sun and the Moon. The patrons of the city were the rulers of the underground palaces Koki Bezelao and Xonaxi Kekuya.

Its name translates as "the place of the dead". Mitla himself allegedly served as a "portal to the world of the dead."
