The son of the former deputy governor of St. Petersburg was arrested in Moscow in a murder case

The Kuntsevo court in Moscow detained Alexander Khotin, the son of former St. Petersburg deputy governor Igor Albin, who is suspected of murdering a man in Moscow, TASS reports, referring to its source in the court.

The court accepted the request of the Investigative Committee and chose Khotin's detention for a period of two months as a preventive measure. The suspect himself asked to be sent to house arrest and cried during the session.

The prosecutor said that Khotin had previously been treated for drug addiction. The defense stated that he has a mental disorder.

The incident took place on the evening of August 10, in Khotin's apartment, which is located on Govorov Street. According to preliminary data, there was a conflict between the owner of the apartment and his guest, during which Khotin injured the man with a knife. The victim was able to get out of the apartment and call an ambulance, but died in the hospital.

As the law enforcement agencies told TASS, the deceased was a courier who delivered the smartphones ordered on the Internet to Khotin. According to the initial hypothesis, the conflict arose due to the payment of the product.

A criminal case was initiated based on the fact of the incident.

According to open sources, Alexander Khotin is the son of former Minister of Regional Development of Russia and former deputy governor of St. Petersburg Igor Albin and his wife Irina Khotina.
