France to ban social media for children under 15

France will ban the use of social networks for people under the age of 15 from the new school year, reports Agence France-Presse (AFP).

In December, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that it is necessary to ban children under the age of 15-16 from using social networks in the country. According to the head of state, mandatory age verification will be introduced in all social networks. Access to services for children and adolescents under the specified age will be prohibited. In November, the European Parliament adopted a resolution proposing to set the minimum age for registering on social networks at 16 years old.
