Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated pop singer, actress, People's Artist of Russia Roksana Babayan on her 80th birthday, emphasizing her active civic position and charitable activities.

"Dear Roxana Rubeni, accept my congratulations on the anniversary. Your active civic position deserves special respect, as well as the large-scale public and charitable work to which you devote your strength and energy," the president's message published on the Kremlin website says.
Putin noted that fans of Russian pop music highly appreciate the artist's talent, versatile creativity and dedication to art.
"I wish you good health and inexhaustible energy," concluded the Russian President.
Roksana Babayan was born on May 30, 1946 in Tashkent. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, but later chose a musical career. Lai gained wide recognition after winning the international competition held in Dresden in 1976, as well as with the famous songs "И снова солнцу удивлюсь" and "Восток — дело тонкое".
The singer was also engaged in acting. She was married to actor Mikhail Derzhavin for 37 years.
