The harvesters of "Zvartnots" are being restored

With the funds of "Conservation Service" SNOC, restoration works are being carried out on the moats in the area of "Zvartnots" historical and cultural reserve. SNOC informs that the moat of the temple complex was opened by Toros Toramanian in 1931, but due to illness, he could not finish the excavations. They were in 1958. continued S. Ter-Avagyan.

The excavations of Hdzan were completed by the director of "Zvartnots" museum V. Harutyunyan in the 1980s. At one time, the mill was a wooden three-nave structure with thick walls lined with hewn stones, a rectangular plan, an area of 19.0 x 32.6 m2, consisting of 2 large compartments and a long corridor between them. It had 5 large harvest pits and seven grape pressing platforms.

They were once plastered with lime mortar. At the same time, the platforms had a certain slope towards the mowers. The grapes were crushed on the platforms and the resulting juice flowed through the streams into the wells. On the tiled and whitewashed floors of the latter, additional recesses were made, where during the preparation of wine, the sediment of lime was collected.
