Even light physical activity protects cancer. Scientists

Researchers at Oxford University have found that the risk of cancer has fallen by more than a quarter. However, even seven thousand days a day can help protect themselves from this disease. The results of the study were published in the magazine of British Journal of Sports Medicine.

During 5.8 years, scientists have followed the changes in the volunteer lifestyle and health. The average age of the participants was 68 years old. During the whole research, all cases of 13 types of tumor diseases were registered.

The results showed that people with the highest level of daily physical activity were 26% lower than the lowest. This protective influence was observed regardless of demographic factors, such as lifestyle, body mass index (BMI), and bad habits and certain health conditions.

It turned out that even short daily walks (about seven thousand stations per day) are related to the risk of cancer without additional training. Those who took seven thousand days a day were 11% lower than about five thousand walkers. Nine thousand steps reduced this risk by 5%.
