Starlink satellites prepared for the launch of cellular communications

The American corporation SpaceX has launched the required number of satellites to provide cellular communication services. PCMag drew attention to this. On November 25, an entry appeared in the company’s X account that the next 12 Starlink satellites were sent into orbit. After this, Space X completed preparations for the launch of the Direct to Cell (DTC) service, which allows you to make phone calls and send SMS via Starlink satellites.

Journalists noted that Elon Musk's corporation has been launching DTC satellites since January to then use them as orbital cell towers. In October, SpaceX made it available free of charge to hurricane victims in the US, but it needs permission from US regulators to commercially launch the service.

The material states that SpaceX and T-Mobile - the latter is a partner in the project - are extremely optimistic about the prospects for Direct to Cell. “It just works,” the head of the corporation, Elon Musk, described the new satellite service on November 24. At the end of November, ArsTechnica said that SpaceX would receive permission to launch Starlink using Starship. Previously, the corporation managed to prove that the second stage of Starship is capable of safely leaving low-Earth orbit and does not pose a danger to the public.
