The extraordinary elections of the German Bundestag may take place on February 23

Deputies of the Social-Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) agreed with the opposition to hold extraordinary elections for the Bundestag (Parliament of Germany) on February 23. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the negotiations.

The federal election, originally scheduled for September 28, is now expected to take place on February 23, said the officials, who asked not to be identified.
The agency writes that, most likely, in the first half of December, Chancellor Olaf Scholz will submit a vote of confidence to the government to the lower house of the parliament. If the cabinet does not receive it, then Scholz can ask the president to dissolve the parliament, and then within 60 days, special elections must be called.

On November 7, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier dismissed German Finance Minister Christian Lindner. In addition, Justice Minister Marco Bushman and Education and Research Minister Bettina Stark-Wattzinger lost their positions.
