The Kremlin has denied reports of a conversation between Putin and Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, who won the US elections, have not yet called each other, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “This is the most clear example of the quality of the information that is now sometimes published even in fairly respected publications. This is completely untrue. This is pure this is just false information,” he told reporters, answering a corresponding question. The day before, The Washington Post wrote that the winner of the presidential election in USA Trump allegedly had a telephone conversation with Putin. It was alleged that the Republican called not to escalate the conflict in Ukraine. WP also noted that Trump allegedly expressed interest in subsequent conversations with the aim of discussing a speedy resolution of the Ukrainian conflict. In addition, when asked by journalists whether there was a telephone conversation between Putin and Trump last week, Peskov also answered in the negative. He added that so far there are no specific plans for contacts between the Russian leader and the Republican who won the elections. Speaking at a meeting of the Valdai discussion club, Putin said that he has nothing against resumption of contacts and does not consider it shameful to call Trump. In turn, Peskov noted that, theoretically, the Russian leader could himself contact the newly elected US president, but one should watch how events develop further.
