IDF prepares to launch rescue mission in the Netherlands

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will send a rescue mission to the Netherlands following a series of attacks on Israeli fans in Amsterdam, the army's press service said. "The mission, in coordination with the Dutch government, will be deployed using a cargo plane and will include medical and rescue teams." , the statement says. The press service noted that the army is preparing an operation at the direction of the political leadership. The IDF command will lead it in cooperation with various units and security agencies of Israel. Massive attacks on fans of the Tel Aviv football club Maccabi took place in Amsterdam, where the Israelis came to a match with the local Ajax. Videos that appeared on social media showed masked men trying to break into hotels where Israelis were staying. The media write that clashes took place throughout the city, at least ten Israeli citizens were injured. It later became known that the police detained 57 people for participating in the riots. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded that two planes be sent to Amsterdam to return fans from there. He also called on Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schof and local security forces to take decisive action against the rioters and ensure the well-being of Israelis.
