US Vice President J.D. Vance made direct calls to commanders in the Middle East, Europe and Asia this spring, and even then the military expressed concerns about the shortage of Patriot missile defense systems and other issues, the New York Times reported, citing sources.
“Vice President J.D. Vance took the unusual step of directly calling commanders of US forces in the Middle East, Europe and Asia this spring to hear their candid assessments of the war with Iran,” the article said.
According to the newspaper, Vance expressed such interest just a few days after the start of hostilities. He was interested in the details of the operation and the state of the armed forces.
