A police officer was arrested in France on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack

Anti-terrorist services in France have arrested a 35-year-old police officer in one of the suburbs of Paris on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack and making illegal weapons. This was announced by the prosecutor's office.

The law enforcement officer was detained. he is accused of terrorist intentions and possession of illegal weapons. According to the investigation, the policeman was arrested on the street at the end of August, but the incident became known only now.

The TF1 TV channel and other French mass media report that the law enforcement officers suspect their partner of having connections with far-right circles, as well as of planning violent attacks against state institutions and, possibly, the police.

According to the investigation, he could have used a 3D printer to make weapons. According to the Prosecutor's Office, parts of weapons were found during the search of his car and apartment.

The arrest took place in the background of a noisy scandal surrounding the municipal police of the city of Carcassonne in the south of France. Last week, a camera accidentally turned on by one of the police officers recorded the conversation of the employees, where racist, sexist and homophobic expressions, as well as conspiracy theses, were heard. After the publication of the video, the prosecutor's office started an investigation.

Attention to this incident increased after it was revealed that one of the employees was a member of the far-right "National Unity" party and worked in its security service. Later he was expelled from the party.

French law enforcement agencies are continuing the investigation of the case of the arrested policeman. his possible ties to the extreme right and plans for violent actions are revealed.
