The status of North Korea as a state with nuclear weapons does not require recognition not only by the United States, but also by Western countries or the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
This was stated in the statement of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was distributed by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
"Our status as a nuclear-weapon state does not require recognition by the United States, the West, or the IAEA, but is guaranteed by our practical nuclear deterrent and irrevocably enshrined in the supreme law of the land," the statement said.
