An eruption of the Dukono volcano was recorded on the island of Halmahera in the North Maluku province of Indonesia, according to a statement from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation of Indonesia.
According to the center, the ash rose 1.3 km above the crater of the volcano, reaching a height of 2387 meters above sea level. White and gray ash clouds spread to the northwest.
The Center for Volcanology has urged residents and tourists in nearby areas to stay within a 4 km radius of the volcano's crater and wear masks to protect themselves from volcanic ash. On May 8, at least two people were killed and one more went missing as a result of the Dukono eruption.
The volcano is located at the junction of the tectonic plates of the Pacific Ocean and Australia.
