Japan, along with like-minded countries, will continue to support Ukraine. This was announced by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in his speech in the parliament on the occasion of his inauguration.
"With deep respect for the will of Ukraine, we will continue to support it with like-minded countries," he said, emphasizing the need for a quick end to the conflict in Ukraine. However, in his speech, as well as in a similar speech at the end of last year, the head of the Japanese government did not use language about the continued pressure of sanctions against Russia.
At the same time, Tokyo continues to regularly voice the position formulated in 2022 about "continued support to Ukraine and pressure on sanctions against Russia."
This was recently announced by Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Germany last week.
