Armenian tennis player Karen Khachanov continues his fight in the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, reaching the semifinals of the US Open.
The quarterfinal match between Khachanov and Belgian Alexander Bloks did not end in full. The Armenian tennis player was winning 6:2, 7:5, 3:2 when Bloks refused to continue the fight due to health problems.
The Belgian received medical assistance twice during the match. Before the match, he reported pain in the rib area, which arose in the previous round, during a match against Argentine Francisco Cherundolo. The total duration of the match was 1 hour and 38 minutes.
This is Khachanov's second participation in the US Open semifinals. Before this, he appeared in the top four of the tournament in 2022.
Thus, Khachanov once again has a chance to fight for a place in the final of the New York tournament. The total prize fund of this year's US Open is $108 million.
