Food for one detainee costs 1113 drams, but they take bread from home to prisons. "People"

"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:

"Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper learns from the RA state procurement website that the penal service of the RA Ministry of Justice signed a contract worth 1 billion 241 million drams with "Arpine Karapetyan" PJSC.

According to the contract, "Arpine Karapetyan" PJSC is obliged to provide ready food services (including bread) for detainees and convicts held in 9 penal institutions of RA Ministry of Justice: "Armavir", "Nubarashen", "Abovyan", "Goris", "Vardaashen", "Yerevan-Kentron", "Sevan", "Artik" and "Vanadzor" prisons. an efficient system of food acquisition, food preparation and distribution, which includes the following functions: storage of the required amount of food by the Executor, storage and preparation of quality food with the available food by specialized chefs, and delivery to all penal institutions.

No. 5 penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia can provide premises free of charge, where the executing organization can organize food preparation services.

Provision of prepared food for detainees and convicts kept in penitentiary institutions is carried out according to a mutually approved menu, etc. It should be noted that according to the contract, breakfast is served at 07:30, lunch at 12:30, and dinner at 17:30.

The contract stipulates that the executor is obliged to serve 3,000 people, whose daily food cost, according to the calculation made in the contract, is 1,113 drams.

In other words, the daily food of 1 convict is 1113 drams, and most of the relatives of convicts and detainees are very dissatisfied with its quality.

Journalists of "Zhoghovurd" recorded long queues for food delivery at the entrances of various prisons. This suggests that the food financed by the state is, by and large, "nothing to eat".
