Tokayev again proposed Kazakhstan as a platform for negotiations on Ukraine

President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev assessed the situation of the conflict in Ukraine as extremely difficult and noted that the key issues remain the territorial disputes. He emphasized that Kazakhstan does not aspire to the role of a mediator, but is ready to provide a platform for negotiations.

"The situation is extremely complicated, and the key issue remains the territorial nature. Kazakhstan consistently favors exclusively political and diplomatic settlement. In our opinion, the way to peace is through negotiations between the conflicting parties.

Although Kazakhstan does not seek the role of a mediator, we are ready to offer our good-faith services, including providing a neutral platform for negotiations, if such an opportunity arises," Tokayev said in an interview with The International News Pakistan. The President paid a state visit to Islamabad a few days ago.

Earlier, Tokayev also noted that Kazakhstan can serve as a platform for negotiations, in particular, he informed US President Donald Trump about this during a telephone conversation at the end of December 2025.
