Cuba will not give up its sovereignty despite the recent US measures aimed at stifling it economically, the island's ambassador to Ecuador, Basilio Gutiérrez, told RIA Novosti.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order allowing the US to impose import tariffs on products from countries that sell or supply oil to Cuba and also declared a state of emergency, citing an alleged national security threat from Havana.
"Cubans are facing difficult times, but we will not give up our sovereignty and the system of government that we freely chose many years ago," Gutierrez said.
