US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been instructed to prepare an offer to buy Greenland in the coming weeks, NBC reports, citing an unnamed White House official.
"Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been tasked with preparing a proposal to buy Greenland in the coming weeks, calling the plan Trump's 'priority,'" the publication said.
Rasmus Jarlov, a member of the Danish parliament and head of the defense committee, appealed to the Greenlanders on January 11, urging them to tell the world about their desire to remain part of Denmark and stop condemning it.
Otherwise, he noted, US plans to annex the world's largest island would be automatically legalized. Yarlov added that Washington is already preparing invasion plans.
