Denmark to increase military presence in Greenland after US criticism

Danish authorities intend to increase their military presence in Greenland after the US criticized the autonomous region for insufficient defense capabilities, according to Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

"We will continue to increase our military presence in Greenland," the Danish minister told Agence France-Presse.

The minister added that Denmark will pay more attention to conducting military exercises within the framework of NATO and expanding the presence of the alliance's forces in the Arctic.

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated the need for Greenland to join the United States.
