Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko called on residents of the Ukrainian capital to temporarily leave the city if possible to find alternative sources of electricity and heat. He noted that half of the city's apartment buildings (almost 6,000) were left without heating due to damage to critical infrastructure. There are also water supply failures in Kyiv.
He noted that public utilities supplied electricity to the city's social institutions, including hospitals and maternity hospitals, with the help of portable boilers.
According to Klitschko, the authorities are doing everything to restore the supply as quickly as possible. He noted that city services are operating under emergency mode. The mayor of Kyiv added that bad weather conditions are expected in the coming days.
