The United States welcomed the cease-fire announced by the Syrian Defense Ministry in the Kurdish districts of Aleppo, US special envoy to Syria Tom Barak said in a post on the X microblog.
"The United States warmly welcomes the temporary ceasefire achieved overnight in the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsood neighborhoods of Aleppo and expresses deep gratitude to all parties, the Syrian government, the Syrian Democratic Forces, local authorities and community leaders, for the restraint and goodwill that made this important ceasefire possible," he said in a statement.
He expressed hope for longer peace and deeper dialogue in the near future, stressing the importance of cooperation instead of conflict.
