The Prime Minister of Spain hopes that the conflict in Ukraine will be settled in 2026

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed hope that the conflict in Ukraine will be settled in 2025.

"We want 2026 to be a year of peace," said the prime minister, speaking at a conference of the Kingdom's ambassadors at the headquarters of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "Also in Ukraine."

"It seems difficult, but I believe that Spain will do everything to contribute to the achievement of this peace," assured Sanchez, whose speech was broadcast on the kingdom's cabinet website.

"In 2025, we have again allocated 1 billion euros to support Kyiv, mainly in the form of military, but also financial and, of course, humanitarian aid," he noted.

"If Spain has sent peacekeeping troops to many other geographically distant places, how can we not send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine, a European country," the prime minister insisted.

Earlier, Sanchez announced that he would discuss with the parliamentary groups the possibility of the participation of the Spanish military in the hypothetical peacekeeping mission in Ukraine after the end of the conflict.
