Rubio said the US has no plans to invade Greenland

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during a telephone conversation with his French counterpart that the United States is not planning to invade Greenland, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro said.

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that Rubio stated during a closed-door briefing with senior officials that Washington had no plans to invade Greenland.

According to the Secretary of State, the goal of the US is to buy the island from Denmark.

"I spoke to Secretary of State Rubio on the phone yesterday. He confirmed that invading Greenland is not the approach that the United States adopts," Baro said on Radio France.

According to the French minister, Rubio ruled out the repetition of the scenario that happened in Venezuela in Greenland.
