The Red Cross has called for an increase in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) calls on the international community to increase the humanitarian aid provided to Afghanistan, ICRC operations director Yasmin Pras-Desimo stated in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"The international community must expand its support, because humanitarian organizations cannot and are not obliged to effectively replace the existing state sector in the long term.

Furthermore, humanitarian funding is being cut, reducing access to aid for the most vulnerable groups," Pra-Dessimo said.

He added that the decision to return to Afghanistan has a serious impact on people who are already facing many difficulties.
