Germany reacted to Trump's ambitions regarding Greenland

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz evaluated US President Donald Trump's statements regarding Greenland, stressing that the future of the island should be decided by the people living there. He wrote about it on the X social platform.

According to Mertz, "Greenland belongs to the people who inhabit it." He added that the issue of Arctic security remains one of the priorities of Europe and NATO partners, including the US, Denmark and Greenland under the latter's jurisdiction.

Earlier, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned that US ambitions for Greenland could lead to the collapse of NATO. In turn, the former head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, announced that the United States can no longer be considered the main ally of the European Union, calling on European countries to defend their interests with their own forces.
