Dozens of journalists have been arrested in Venezuela

More than a dozen journalists were arrested in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, who covered the events taking place in the country, including the action in favor of the ousted President Nicolás Maduro and the swearing-in ceremony of the new parliament. The press association of the country announced.

14 arrested persons were later released, but one of them, a foreign journalist, was deported from the country.

SNTP noted that 11 persons are among those arrested. They work in international media and one in national media.

Venezuela's Ministry of Information, which is responsible for government relations, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the arrests. The Communications Ministry also did not respond to a request for comment.

The arrests of the journalists took place after the US armed forces arrested Maduro in a night operation over the weekend.
